Services: Peer leadership program in which teen women are trained in methods to present HIV and teach peers and younger youth about healthy relationships.  Teens are available to provide workshops to groups of teens and/or younger youth

Hours of operation:  School days, Monday to Thursday, 3:00-8:00pm; summer times vary

Services:  Peer leadership program for teen women to learn national Girls Inc. curriculum and deliver it to peers and younger youth in the community.  Adult staff are also trained in friendly PEERsuasion and are available to deliver this program and/or provide technical assistance to organizations on substance abuse prevention

Hours of operation: School year, Monday to Thursday, 3:00-8:00pm; summer schedule varies

Services:  Case management services for middle school girls to provide support, academic help, referrals and workshops for parents to help their daughters succeed.  Staff are also available to provide national Girls Inc. Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy programming to other agencies and schools, as well as technical assistance on teen pregnancy prevention

Ages Served:  11-15             Languages Served:  English 

Eligibility restrictions:  Must have a sibling who is/was a pregnant/parenting teen

Fees:  None

Hours of operation:  Monday to Friday, times vary

 

Help for Abused Women and their Children – Education and Training

Services: HAWC conducts numerous education and training activities year long to raise public awareness and create community wide prevention strategies to respond to, and prevent, domestic violence.  

Ages Served:  No restrictions            Languages Served:  English, Espanol, Portuguese

Fees:  Training fees are negotiated prior to the presentation 

Hours of operation:  Available with reasonable notice to conduct these training sessions at any time

 

Help for Abused Women and their Children – Youth Violence Prevention

Services: Promoting healthy teen dating relationships through educational outreach and classroom activities in and after school settings and through the summer.  Teens learn to identify the warning signs of potentially abusive relationships and discuss ways to engage in healthy decision making

Ages Served: Boys and girls; elementary, middle, and high school age

Languages Served:  Programs are conducted in English 

Fees:  All of HAWC’s services are free 

Hours of operation:  9:00am - 5:00pm

Services:  Community coalition designed to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors for youth and families to prevent substance abuse, violence, delinquency, teen pregnancy, and school dropout.  The coalition regularly recruits new members representing the provider community, law enforcement, youth serving organizations, youth, parents, and community members

Services: Art based groups for children ages 6 to 18 after school and evenings; emotional expression through the arts in groups

Other Information:  All groups are geared to help children learn about themselves and their world and to build coping mechanisms in dealing with their world.  Groups are geared to different arts and by age, gender, and needs
