Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lynn

Services: Part of a nationwide affiliation of local organizations offering daily access to a broad range of programs addressing education and career development, character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation

Ages Served:  6 to 18 years                                Languages Served:  All

Fees:  $10.00 per school year

Hours of operation:  Monday to Friday, 2:00pm - 9:00pm

Other Information:  During the summer months, the club operates a day camp in Middleton

Services:  Camp Pinecrest is a summer youth program for youth who struggle with emotional and behavioral difficulties

Services:  Afterschool program for teens (boys and girls) based on prevention curriculum.  The program includes family involvement and is a structured, dynamic program for substance abusing teens

Eligibility restrictions: Participants must first undergo an intake process

Fees: All insurances accepted, including Medicaid and Medicare

Hours of operation:  Call for days of the week

Help for Abused Women and their Children – Youth Violence Prevention

Services: Promoting healthy teen dating relationships through educational outreach and classroom activities in and after school settings and through the summer.  Teens learn to identify the warning signs of potentially abusive relationships and discuss ways to engage in healthy decision making

Ages Served: Boys and girls; elementary, middle, and high school age

Languages Served:  Programs are conducted in English 

Fees:  All of HAWC’s services are free

Services: Fitness activities, Homework help, and activities designed to encourage community involvement, cultural knowledge and awareness, and leadership skills. Partnership between Lynn YMCA, Lynn Community Health Center, and Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma.

Eligibility: 13-18 year old Cambodian youth

Languages served: English and Khmer

Meets Tuesdays, call for specific times as program changes seasonally.

Services:  Various youth programs offering education about the dangers of substance abuse, a work force program combining life skills training with classroom training.  Curwin Circle has partnerships with both the Boys and Girls Club of Lynn, Girls Inc., HAWC, and Gordon College to provide both recreational activities and homework help.  All Curwin residents have access to a homework center and a study hall complete with reference library and adult monitors/tutors.

Services: MY -TURN in Lynn assists young adults who are high school dropouts and/or unemployed, develop strategies and tools and gain practical life skills and work experience needed to overcome obstacles and barriers to employment. MY-TURN Lynn provides GED preparation 5 days a week, supplemented by Career Readiness Training and assitance with college preparation.  Intense case management services include basic life skills workshops, financial literacy, computer literacy, and a variety of supportive services. MY TURN also finds and works with employers who can provide young adults with work-based learning experiences and permanent jobs as well as the mentoring, supervision and on-going training these youth require to succeed. 

Ages Served:  16 to 21                          Languages Served:  English, Espanol (classes are in English only)

Hours of operation: 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Fees:  No cost to participants

Services:  The Salvation Army is a church offering many religious services as well as social services

Eligibility restrictions:  Social services as a way of financial assistance require different standards or eligibility; call for information

Fees:  None

Hours of operation:  Office hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm; Church, Sundays 10:00am - 2:00pm

Other Information:  Anyone looking for services is welcome to stop by during office hours and we will help within our means.  If unable to help, we will refer the individual to someone who can assist

 

Serving People in Need (SPIN) – Lynn Academy
